1. Who we are
Lumo (“Lumo”, “we”, “us”) is a web application for learning piano, operated by Individual Entrepreneur Vadym Chukhniuk, a sole proprietor registered in Ukraine.
You can reach us at support@lumomusic.app. We answer support email in English.
These Terms are an agreement between you and us. By creating an account or using Lumo, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Lumo.
2. What Lumo is
Lumo provides online piano lessons, practice exercises, daily challenges and practice pieces through a web browser. Lumo is an educational tool, not a substitute for a teacher, and we make no promise about how quickly you will learn.
To use the practice features you need a keyboard that connects to your computer — a MIDI keyboard or a digital piano with a USB port — and a browser that supports the Web MIDI API (currently Chrome or Edge on a computer). Microphone-based practice, when offered, is a beta feature: it is provided as-is, may be inaccurate, and may change or be withdrawn.
3. Your account
You must be at least 18 years old to buy a subscription, and at least 16 years old to hold an account.
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Accounts are personal: do not share your login with other people. Tell us at support@lumomusic.app if you believe someone else has access to your account.
You must give us a real email address and keep it current — we use it for account and billing notices.
4. Free trial and private beta
New accounts get a 14-day free trial of the paid features. The trial does not require a payment card, and no charge is made during the trial. There is nothing to cancel: if you do nothing, the trial simply ends.
When the trial ends, access to lessons, pieces and challenges stops until you subscribe. Your account, your progress, your XP and your streak history remain in place.
One trial per person. We may refuse a trial to an account we reasonably believe was created to obtain a second trial.
Before launch we may run a private beta and give free access by invitation. Beta access is free, is not a subscription, and ends when the beta ends.
5. Subscriptions and payment
After the trial you can subscribe:
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Monthly | $12.99 USD per month |
| Yearly | $99 USD per year |
Both plans include everything Lumo offers. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies in your country; the tax, if any, is shown at checkout.
Who you buy from. Payments are processed by PayPro Global, Inc. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada — “PayPro Global”), which acts as the authorised reseller and merchant of record for purchases of Lumo. Your purchase and payment contract for the transaction is with PayPro Global; your use of the Lumo service is governed by these Terms. PayPro Global’s own terms and seller information are shown at checkout.
We never receive your card details. Card data is handled entirely by PayPro Global. We receive only your subscription status, plan, and renewal date.
Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly plans every month, yearly plans every year — at the price then in effect, until you cancel. See the Cancellation Policy for how to cancel and when it takes effect, and the Refund Policy for refunds.
Promotional prices. We may offer promotional prices, for example to beta participants or to people on our waitlist. A promotional renewal price continues only while the subscription stays active without interruption; if the subscription ends, the standard price applies to any new subscription.
Price changes. If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to your renewal. You may cancel before the new price takes effect.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, access to paid features may be suspended until payment succeeds.
6. What you may and may not do
Lumo’s lessons, exercises, challenges, arrangements, engravings, illustrations, mascot, software and design are our intellectual property or are licensed to us. The underlying musical works we use are in the public domain, but our arrangements, editions and lesson materials are not — they are our own work.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Lumo for your own learning while your subscription, trial or beta access is active.
You may not: resell or redistribute Lumo’s content; publish our arrangements or lesson text as your own; share your account; scrape, bulk-download or automate access to the service; attempt to bypass payment, access other users’ data, or interfere with the service; use Lumo for anything unlawful.
You may play, record and share your own performances of the music you practise on Lumo, including on social media.
7. Content you provide
You may upload a profile picture and enter profile details. You keep ownership of anything you upload; you give us permission to store and display it in the service so we can operate it. Do not upload anything unlawful, offensive, or that infringes someone else’s rights. We may remove such content.
8. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Lumo at any time and may delete your account yourself (see the Privacy Policy).
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms — for example account sharing, attempts to bypass payment, abusive behaviour toward our support, or unlawful use. Where the breach is minor and fixable, we will contact you first. If we terminate an account for a serious breach, we do not refund the remaining paid period.
We may also stop offering Lumo entirely. If that happens while you have paid time remaining, we will refund the unused part of your current period.
9. Availability, changes and beta features
We work to keep Lumo available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change, add or remove features. Features marked beta may be unreliable, may change, and may be withdrawn without notice.
Lumo is a small, independently built product. We will tell you by email about changes that materially reduce what you get for your money.
10. Liability
Lumo is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or loss caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Lumo in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of Ukraine, where the operator is established. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live.
Before any formal step, please write to support@lumomusic.app — most problems are solved by email.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. The current version is always on this page, with its effective date at the top. Continuing to use Lumo after a change takes effect means you accept it.
